MCAA Brings Mechanical Service Dispatcher Training to Phoenix This September

The mechanical contracting industry’s national association is bringing one of its service-side training programs to the Valley. The Mechanical Contractors Association of America announced that its Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) division will hold its Dispatcher Professional Development Training in Phoenix on September 28 and 29, 2026.

Dispatchers sit at the center of any mechanical service operation. They triage incoming calls, match technicians to jobs, manage parts and scheduling, and are often the first voice a property manager hears when a building system goes down. The MSCA course focuses on the communication, prioritization, and customer-service skills that turn a dispatch desk into a real operations hub, and it is one of several professional development programs MCAA runs each year alongside its safety, project management, and technology curricula.

The Phoenix date follows a busy summer for the association. MCAA also announced the recipient of the Josam Endowed Scholarship, a $2,500-per-year award over three years presented at the MCAA26 convention, which was also held in Phoenix earlier this year.

MCAA has also opened the door for contractors to shape the next generation of codes. IAPMO announced in August that it is soliciting proposals for the 2030 editions of the Uniform Plumbing Code and Uniform Mechanical Code, with a submission deadline of January 8, 2027. Arizona jurisdictions base their plumbing code on the UPC, so the proposals filed over the next several months will eventually reach job sites across the state.

Anyone who has built multifamily or student housing knows the job does not end at certificate of occupancy. Warranty response, service calls, and the relationship with the property management team all depend on how well the office side of a mechanical contractor runs. National training coming to Phoenix is good for every contractor in the market, because it raises the standard that owners and general contractors come to expect from their trade partners. We also read MCAA’s decision to keep bringing its events to Phoenix as a vote of confidence in the depth of Arizona’s mechanical contracting community.
